Among the Italian supercar elite, the Masi MC12 Corsa is a race-bred descendant with the blood of a Ferrari and the bones of its sibling supercar icon Maserati. Brute force and articulate styling give the MC12 an air of exclusivity that is hard met by any competition.[1]

The 2008 Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa (MC12 Corsa '08, Maserati MC12 VC), also known as the Maserati MC12 Versione Corse or just Maserati MC12 Corsa, is a track-only modified version of the Maserati MC12. It debuted in Forza Horizon and later returned in Forza Horizon 4 in Series 9 after a nearly seven-year absence.[2]

The MC12 Corsa, unlike the GT1 race car version of the MC12, is intended for private use on race tracks only, as its modifications remove its status as a road legal car.

Overview[edit | edit source]

The MC12 Corsa was developed directly from the MC12 GT1, which won the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers Cup. Released in mid-2006, "in response to the customer demand to own the MC12 racing car and fueled by the growth in track days, where owners can drive their cars at high speeds in the safety of a race track", as stated by Edward Butler, Maserati Australia and New Zealand's General Manager, the MC12 Corsa is similar to the Ferrari FXX in that they are track-only cars whose owners are private individuals. Two major differences, though, are that Maserati oversees the storage, upkeep, and maintenance of the MC12 Corsa units, and that the MC12 Corsa may only be driven on specially organized track days. In addition, unlike the FXX, the MC12 Corsa is not used for R&D (research and development) projects, only for entertainment.[3]

The MC12 Corsa features a 5,998 cc, 6.0 L M144 racing V12 engine that makes 756 PS (745 hp; 556 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 740 N·m (546 ft·lb) of torque at 5,500 rpm.[4] It has a dry weight of 2,535 lb (1,150 kg), which is also the car's weight in Forza Horizon.[5] Forza Horizon 4 altered the MC12 Corsa's specs to 756 hp (563 kW), 710 N·m (523 ft·lb), and 2,646 lb (1,200 kg).[6] In both games, the MC12 Corsa has a 41% / 59% weight distribution.

The MC12 Corsa shares the GT1's shortened nose, which was a requirement for entry into the American Le Mans Series. The car was available in a single standard color, named "Blue Victory", though the car's paint could be customized upon customer request and can be customized in the Forza series.[7]

Performance[edit | edit source]

The MC12 Corsa reaches 60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.3 seconds and 100 mph (161 km/h) in 5.8 seconds. It also has a top speed of 202 mph (326 km/h),[7] which is changed to 213 mph (343 km/h) in Forza Horizon 4.[6]

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Forza Horizon[edit | edit source]

  • In Forza Horizon, the MC12 Corsa is very limited with its upgrades, with only the drivetrain, tires and rims, and suspension being upgradable.
  • The MC12 Corsa is, however, decent in Class R1 events.
  • AI-controlled MC12 Corsas are usually driven by Bonifaz.

Forza Horizon 4[edit | edit source]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

Mistakes[edit | edit source]

  • The Forza Horizon 4 rendition of the MC12 Corsa has several errors compared to the previous Forza Horizon rendition:
    • An incorrect power output of 756 hp (563 kW) in Forza Horizon 4, despite that "756" is the car's real life metric horsepower (PS) rating.
    • An incorrect torque output of 710 N·m (523 ft·lb).
