The Ferrari FXX K, also sometimes known as the Ferrari LaFerrari FXX K, is a track day special based on the LaFerrari road hypercar.

The FXX K was designed to be uncompromising and will not be used in competition.[1]

Overview[edit | edit source]

The FXX K is Ferrari's research and development vehicle based on the LaFerrari, its first hybrid production model, although Ferrari claims it's a new model altogether. The "K" in the car's name represents the car's HY-KERS system, which is used for performance improvements. Not intended to be used in competition, the FXX K was designed to give its driver an uncompromising experience.[1]

It was unveiled at the Yas Marina Circuit in December 2014.[2]

Design / Chassis[edit | edit source]

The FXX K is down up to 200 lb (91 kg) from the LaFerrari, coming down to a dry weight of 2,568 lb (1,165 kg) and a curb weight of 3,296 lb (1,495 kg).

Engine / Drivetrain[edit | edit source]

The FXX K's track-tuned powertrain produces a total of 1,050 PS (1,036 hp; 772 kW) and over 900 N·m (664 ft·lb) of torque, of which 860 PS (848 hp; 633 kW) are delivered by the 6,262 cc (6.3 L; 382.1 in3) naturally aspirated F140 FE V12 and 190 PS (187 hp; 140 kW) by the electric motor.[3][1]

The car has four driving modes: Qualify (maximum performance on short distance), Long Run (for long distance driving), Fast Charge (for faster recharging of the battery) and Manual Boost, that uses all the power of the engine and batteries for maximum torque, cornering and speed.[1]

The FXX K retains its seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission from the LaFerrari, including the gear ratios.

Performance[edit | edit source]

The FXX K is capable of 0 - 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.4 seconds, 0 - 100 mph (161 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, and a top speed exceeding 341 km/h (212 mph).

It also generates 1,190 lb (540 kg) of downforce at 200 km/h (124 mph), a 42% increase over the LaFerrari.[3] This gives it up to 1.84 lateral Gs at 193 km/h (120 mph).

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Advantages[edit | edit source]

The Ferrari FXX K's performance map is derived from that of the LaFerrari, with a strong focus on acceleration, handling, and braking. It handles better than most cars within its class or lower, due to its high downforce rating, which makes the car suitable for handling-focused tracks.

Disadvantages[edit | edit source]

The FXX K's acceleration progressively and somewhat drastically weakens past 257 km/h (160 mph), making it unsuitable for longer routes, especially those that feature more high-speed straights than sharp corners. In addition, it has a lower top speed than its road-going brethren at only 345 km/h (214 mph); this difference is even greater in Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Horizon 4 to the point where the LaFerrari is several tens of seconds faster than the FXX K on a long track like Goliath Circuit or The Goliath.

Despite its performance advantages, the FXX K is not considered competitive as it is generally inferior to the Ultima Evolution Coupe 1020, Mosler MT900S, and McLaren Senna. This is partly also because the FXX K inherited a major shortcoming from the LaFerrari: a lack of engine swaps and aspiration swaps. This ultimately all but totally voids the FXX K's competitiveness in S2 Class or X Class.

In Forza Motorsport 6, the FXX K cannot even be used in the Career Mode, while in Forza Motorsport 7, the FXX K is inferior to the Aston Martin Vulcan in virtually all cases. In both games, the FXX K is useless in P Class races due to the strongly superior performance of P Class cars like the Mazda 787B.

    • AWD

Customization[edit | edit source]

The FXX K comes with two advanced paint groups on the body:

  • Paint Group 1, which affects the car's main body.
  • Paint Group 2, which affects the car's front trunk.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

Mistakes[edit | edit source]

  • The FXX K is featured with an extremely unrealistic weight rating of 2,831 lb (1,284 kg) in each Forza title.
    • This figure puts the car much closer to its dry weight rating, which can only be achieved by stripping the car of its fluids and fuel tank, which then makes the car undriveable.
    • Logically, given the LaFerrari's curb weight rating of 3,495 lb (1,585 kg), the FXX K should be changed to weigh 3,296 lb (1,495 kg).
