The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R (M-B AMG GT R) is a high-performance variant of the Mercedes-AMG GT.[1] It was added to the Forza series in the Forza Horizon 3 Logitech G Car Pack.[2]

Overview[edit | edit source]

The M-B AMG GT R's M178 engine, still displacing 3,982 cc (4 L; 243 in3), has been tuned to make 585 PS (577 hp; 430 kW) at 6,250 rpm and 700 N·m (516 ft·lb) of torque at 5,500 rpm.[1]

Although the GT R retains the key mechanical differences the GT C gains over the GT S, it also gains manually adjustable coilover springs in conjunction with the AMG Ride Control suspension of the base models, an active underbody fairing, a manually adjustable rear wing, and a 9-mode AMG Traction Control system. As befitting of a high-performance variant, the GT R forgoes Keyless-Go, the integrated garage-door opener, the heated and power-folding side mirrors, the auto-dimming interior, and exterior mirrors, and reverts to the basic lightweight 4-speaker audio system that the base GT is shipped with.

The GT R features various cosmetic differences from the GT S, most notably the vertical slats in the front grille, an adjustable rear wing, new front air intakes and new front and rear diffusers. The styling of the GT R is more comparable to that of the AMG GT3 race car. The GT R was released for sale in November 2016, with deliveries starting in 2017.[3]

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

The Mercedes-AMG GT R is one of the 10 cars used in the World's Fastest Rentals Horizon Story.

Mercedes-AMG GT R PreOrder Car[edit | edit source]

Forza Horizon 4 has a special pre-tuned variant of the M-B AMG GT R, dubbed the Mercedes-AMG GT R PreOrder Car (M-B AMG GT R PO), which is one of the 3 unreleased preorder cars. It is tuned to the top of S1 Class and features the following new specs:

  • Power: 621 hp (630 PS; 463 kW)
  • Torque: 551 ft·lb (748 N·m)
  • Weight: 2,976 lb (1,350 kg)

The AMG GT R PO can also use the Ferrari F50 GT's 4.7 L racing V12 as an engine swap option.

Just like with the Nissan GT-R PreOrder Car and Ford Focus RS PreOrder Car, it is impossible to obtain the AMG GT R PO from the Auction House, as all three of these cars are currently banned from being sold in the Auction House. Both the AMG GT R PO and Nissan GT-R PO were gifted to everyone on October 1, 2019.[4]

Official Turn 10 remarks[edit | edit source]

Here’s a clue as to how highly Mercedes-AMG thinks of the GT R: when the car made its worldwide public debut, it was none other than multi-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel. Hamilton’s success at the peak of motorsport represents a dominant period in design and racing success for Mercedes, and the GT R has capitalized on the technology of this era, from its wide body and distinctive aesthetics, right down to its upgraded twin-turbo charged 4.0-liter V8. Add it to your garage and you’ll enjoy active aerodynamics and lighter weight, all in a striking package. In other words, if it’s good enough for Lewis…[2]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

Mistakes[edit | edit source]

  • The M-B AMG GT R is wrongly featured with only one manufacturer color in each Forza title.
  • The M-B AMG GT R's default color is incorrectly saturated. This is even more pronounced in Forza Motorsport 7.
