The 2018 Lamborghini Huracán Performante (Lambo Huracán P) is a high-performance, track-oriented variant of the Huracán supercar, unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.[1]

The Huracán Performante is notable for its use of Lamborghini's new ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) system, an active aerodynamic system that improves the car's handling and alters the amount of produced downforce as needed to maximize performance.[2]

Overview[edit | edit source]

Etymology[edit | edit source]

"Performante" means "to perform" in Italian and Romanian, a reference to the Huracán Performante's superior performance over its base counterpart.

Design[edit | edit source]

The Performante features various exterior design changes, with the most noticeable changes being the carbon fiber front and rear bumpers, along with carbon fiber side skirts. It uses front and rear wings, both made entirely from Forged Composites and carbon fiber, that allow the aerodynamics to be actively exploited to achieve maximum performance by altering the amount of produced downforce as needed. The rear wing is adjustable. The exhaust outlets have been altered to be a pair of circular exhausts located just a bit above the rear diffuser.[1]

The Huracán Performante features a redesigned interior, including new carbon fiber seats, interior parts made of Forged Composites, and Alcantara upholstery, along with a new digital speedometer similar to that of the Aventador SV.[1]

The Performante is claimed to be lighter by 88 lb (40 kg), thanks to the use of forged aluminum and forged carbon fiber body components used for the first time since the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento in 2010.[1] However, it still has a curb weight of 3,493 lb (1,584 kg),[3] making it 70 lb (32 kg) heavier than the Huracán LP 610-4 and almost as heavy as a LaFerrari (3,495 lb (1,585 kg)), although this is easily offset by the Performante's superior performance.

Engine[edit | edit source]

The Performante's 5,204 cc V10 engine is retained from the regular Huracán, but uptuned to make 640 PS (631 hp; 471 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 600 N·m (443 ft·lb) of torque at 6,500 rpm.[1]

Drivetrain[edit | edit source]

The Performante, just like with the Huracán, uses an electronically controlled fifth generation Haldex all-wheel-drive transmission with a rear mechanical self-locking differential and a seven-speed dual-clutch LDF (Lamborghini Doppia Frizione) gearbox.[1]

Performance[edit | edit source]

The Performante has a maximum speed in excess of 325 km/h (202 mph), along with acceleration values of 0 - 100 km/h (0 - 62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and 0 - 200 km/h (0 - 124 mph) in 8.9 seconds. The most notable aspect of the Performante is the ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) active aerodynamic system, which is 80% lighter than conventional performance car hydraulic systems and increases or decreases the amount of downforce produced to maximize performance where possible.[1]

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Forza Horizon 4[edit | edit source]

The Huracán Performante was the most requested car to be added to the Forza series by the community in 2019, appearing in the majority of user car wishlists.[4]

There are pieces of evidence lending to the Performante's eventual appearance in the series. A few pieces of pre-release concept artwork shared on ArtStation of Forza Horizon 4 showed a Huracán Performante in the game's Horizon Festival garage, along with the Nissan GT-R NISMO.[5] With the recent Series 16 update that was released on November 20, 2019, the Huracán Performante was included in the game files, known by an internal code name of "LAM_HuracanP_18".[6][7] With the other two most requested cars, the Ferrari 488 Pista and Bugatti Divo, being added in Series 16 and Series 15, respectively, the Performante finally appeared in the game in Series 18, first spotted in the Friday teaser image for the January 2020 edition of Forza Monthly.[8] It is the Series 18 Horizon Autumn Season 50% completion reward.
