The W Motors Lykan HyperSport (leaderboard name: Lykan HyperSport) is a limited production hypercar by W Motors, which it produced from 2013 to 2016.
The Lykan HyperSport, the first exotic car designed and produced indigenously in the Middle East, is one of the rarest exotic cars in the world, with only 7 units produced.[1][2] It is named after the lycanthrope, also known as the werewolf, a mythical human capable of shapeshifting into a wolf.
Overview[edit | edit source]
With a price of US$3.4 million, the Lykan HyperSport was the third most expensive production car at the time of its production. There is a discrepancy among sources as to how many cars have been sold, with reports varying from four to seven sales. At least two of the cars have already been sold, with one going to an anonymous buyer, as confirmed by W Motors's YouTube channel. The Abu Dhabi police force purchased a Lykan HyperSport in June 2015, leaving only six units available for purchase by customers.[3]
Design / Chassis[edit | edit source]
The Lykan HyperSport is the first car where its headlights are decorated with jewels; they contain titanium LED blades with 420 diamonds (15 karats),[2] although buyers had a selection of rubies, diamonds, yellow diamonds, and sapphires to be decorated into the hypercar's headlights at purchase based on color choice. The car also uses a holographic display system on the centre console with interactive motion features, as well as gold stitching on the seats.
The Lykan HyperSport uses MacPherson strut suspension on the front axle and multi-link suspension with horizontal coil over shock absorbers at the rear axle. Anti-roll bars are also installed over each of the axles.[4]
The Lykan HyperSport's doors are a combination of swan doors a la Aston Martin and suicide doors a la Rolls-Royce. As such, they are hinged at the rear.
The Lykan HyperSport has an estimated curb weight of 3,086 lb (1,400 kg),[4] although in each Forza game, it has a weight rating of 3,042 lb (1,380 kg).
Engine / Drivetrain[edit | edit source]
The Lykan HyperSport is powered by a RUF-developed 3,746 cc (3.7 L; 228.6 in3) twin-turbocharged flat-6 engine that makes 780 hp (791 PS; 582 kW) at 7,100 rpm[4] and 960 N·m (708 ft·lb) of torque at 4,000 rpm.[4] Derived from the RUF CTR 3, the Lykan HyperSport's F6 engine is mounted in the middle of the car towards the rear, behind the passenger compartment.[4]
The Lykan HyperSport is available with either a six-speed sequential manual transmission (used in Forza) or a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch sourced from Porsche. Either transmission drives the rear wheels, is paired with a limited-slip differential, and is mounted transversely at the rear of the car.[4]
Performance[edit | edit source]
- 0 - 60 mph (0 - 97 km/h): 2.7 seconds
- 0 - 62 mph (0 - 100 km/h): 2.8 seconds[4]
- 0 - 100 mph (0 - 161 km/h): 5.1 seconds
- 0 - 124 mph (0 - 200 km/h): 9.4 seconds[4]
- Top speed (gearing dependent): 395 km/h (245 mph)[4]
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
As the Lykan HyperSport is very expensive and doesn't have high performance in relation to its exorbitantly high price, players should not consider obtaining this car, alongside the Lamborghini Veneno, until after having obtained all other hypercars in the game.
In Forza Motorsport 7, the Lykan HyperSport was an exclusive car, available in the November 2017 Bounty Hunter and in May 2018. It was unlocked in July 2018.
In Forza Horizon 4, the Lykan HyperSport is also available as a reward for 80% completion of the Horizon Winter Season in Series 8.
Advantages[edit | edit source]
The Lykan HyperSport, despite having elements of luxury in it, is capable of decent track and straight-line performance, as it has enough power and torque to handily beat a GEN2 Ford GT, Pagani Huayra, or Ferrari F12tdf on the track and in a drag race. It keeps to the corners rather well and does not oversteer frequently.
In Forza Horizon 4, the Lykan HyperSport is now capable of competing at the top of S2 Class and even entering X Class due to its expanded upgrade options, including engine swaps; in this case, the Ferrari F50 GT's Tipo F130B V12.
Disadvantages[edit | edit source]
The Lykan HyperSport is less technologically advanced than most other supercars or hypercars that are far less expensive, hence its lackluster acceleration to 200 km/h (124 mph) and beyond and inferior overall performance to them. It suffers from minor to moderate understeer at corners and faces the problem of tight gearing that restricts it to a top speed of 378 km/h (235 mph), lower than its claimed real life top speed.
In Forza Horizon 3, the Lykan HyperSport is basically a collector's item as it cannot compete with any of the top-ranking S2 Class cars (both upgraded and stock), and it also could not reach X Class.

Official Turn 10 remarks[edit | edit source]
“Before you try and find a skyscraper to launch “Arabia’s first supercar” from, as Vin Diesel and Paul Walker did in the film Furious 7, consider it’s $3.4-million price tag and amazing performance. After all, even a car of this value cannot be expected to survive such a thrashing. However, take it to the graywacke aggregate surface of Yas Marina, and you will be astounded by its ability to destroy the competition. This bespoke chassis with a 780-horsepower Ruf twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat six pushing it around is formidable, to say the least. If dressing to impress is of higher value, just gander at the titanium blades within the headlights that are encrusted with diamonds and jewels. Either way, the Lykan HyperSport was created to make an impression like no other.”[5]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- If the Lykan HyperSport's rear wing is deployed in Forzavista, it must be retracted in order for the car's rear engine bay to be openable and vice versa.
- Despite the Lykan HyperSport having only 7 units produced worldwide, it has 9 manufacturer colors available.
Mistakes[edit | edit source]
- The Lykan HyperSport's rear reverse lights do not work at all except in Forza Motorsport 6.
