The 2019 Rimac Concept Two (Rimac Concept 2), also known as the Rimac C_Two and stylized as Rimac Concept_Two, is an all-electric hypercar designed and produced by Rimac Automobili.[1][2] It is featured in Forza Horizon 4 from Series 10 onwards, initially available as the reward for reaching 50% completion in the Series 10 Spring Season.[3]
Unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the Concept Two is Rimac's second production car and the successor to ther Rimac Concept One. It is described as a significant technological leap, dubbed "a car alive with technology". The exterior design was done by the Croatian-born Austrian Adriano Mudri.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Design and chassis[edit | edit source]
The Rimac Concept Two's exterior, designed by Adriano Mudri, takes on a timeless and elegant design, with form respecting function. The design is a completely new one compared to that of the Rimac Concept_One and incorporates Rimac's signature "tie" design on the flanks, designed to suit the car's proportions while also acting as an air intake for the rear cooling systems. In addition, it uses butterfly doors instead of conventional doors.[1]
The Concept_Two has a width of 1,986 mm (78.2 in).[1] It features lightweight, forged alloy wheels with a unique aerodynamic design that channels cooling air to the carbon ceramic braking system and ensures smooth airflow through the flanks.[1] The tires use a bespoke design and compound developed in collaboration with Pirelli, designed with the goal of making the most out of the hypercar's characteristics.
The Concept_Two features high-intensity LED headlights and taillights, with each headlight containing a hand-built cluster of 58 LEDs choreographed by a Rimac control unit, equipped with its own ventilation system, and the taillights even featuring integrated air outlet tunnels.[1]
At the front of the Concept_Two is an active bonnet with active flaps that modify the car's aerodynamic profile.[1] The Concept_Two's front splitter features active elements that both maintain its aerodynamic profile and help maintain optimal operating temperatures for the electronic and battery systems.[1] The active rear wing adopts varying positions according to dynamic loads, maximizing cornering downforce while also allowing for high top speeds reaching up to 415 km/h (258 mph), and instantly folds up as an airbrake to stabilize the car under heavy braking.[1]
The Concept_Two features a full carbon fiber monocoque chassis with a bonded carbon roof, integrated structural battery pack, and rear carbon subframe, with crash structures formed from aluminum and carbon fiber, resulting in a light and exceptionally strong chassis.[1] The car has a weight of 4,299 lb (1,950 kg).[4]
Battery, motors, and drivetrain[edit | edit source]
The Rimac Concept_Two features a 120 kWh liquid-cooled battery pack that comes with a Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (LiNiMnCoO2) chemistry, 6,960 cells, and a cylindrical 21,700 form-factor. The battery, producing 1.4 MW (1,877 hp) of power and encased in layers of safety and protection systems, is configured to offer the best possible weight distribution (which is 48% / 52%) for optimal driving dynamics.[1]
Each wheel is powered individually by an electric motor, resulting in a unique version of all-wheel-drive dubbed individual-wheel-drive, unprecendented dynamic control for the driver, and a maximum power output of 1,914 PS (1,887 hp; 1,407 kW) and 2,300 N·m (1,696 ft·lb) of torque.[1] The bespoke dual permanent magnet, oil-cooled electric motors offer instant response, with efficiency exceeding 97%, a nearly unlimited and maintenance-free operating life, and maximum torque from 0 RPM onwards.[1] The front wheels are driven by dual single-speed gearboxes, while the rear wheels are driven by dual two-speed gearboxes.[1] These result in astoundingly quick acceleration, including 0 - 60 mph (0 - 97 km/h) in 1.85 seconds, and hypercar-like top speeds exceeding 415 km/h (258 mph), placing the likes of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Koenigsegg Regera, and Hennessey Venom GT in its crosshairs.
Performance[edit | edit source]
- 0 - 60 mph (0 - 97 km/h): 1.85 seconds[1]
- 0 - 100 mph (0 - 161 km/h): 4.00 ~ 4.30 seconds[4]
- Top speed: 415 km/h (258 mph)[1]
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
The Rimac Concept_Two is available in Series 10 of Forza Horizon 4 from June 27, 2019 14:30:00 GMT to July 4, 2019 14:29:59 GMT by reaching 50% completion on the Series 10 Spring Season.
Advantages[edit | edit source]
- The Rimac Concept_Two, being an electric hypercar, is capable of instant throttle response and extremely quick acceleration superior to those of the Hoonigan Ford Hoonicorn Mustang, Porsche 918 Spyder, and Koenigsegg Agera RS. Out of all the road cars in the series, assuming the cars are completely stock, the C_Two is the quickest accelerating one, capable of the following:
Acceleration | |
---|---|
0 - 60 mph (0 - 97 km/h) | 1.85 s |
0 - 62 mph (0 - 100 km/h) | 1.9 s |
0 - 124 mph (0 - 200 km/h) | 4.3 s |
0 - 186 mph (0 - 300 km/h) | 7.7 s |
0 - 249 mph (0 - 400 km/h) | 13.3 s |
- These figures alone make the Concept_Two quicker than even the Koenigsegg Agera RS.
- The Concept_Two is also capable of extremely high top speeds of up to 420 km/h (261 mph), making it among one of the fastest road cars in the Forza series.
- With its acceleration, the Concept_Two can be upgraded with the Drag Tire Compound to allow for extremely quick race times in drag racing, although Concept_Two drivers must watch out for the Shelby Monaco King Cobra, McLaren F1 GT, and Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione.
Disadvantages[edit | edit source]
- Due to its weight, the Rimac Concept_Two exhibits moderate understeer around corners. The Concept_Two, having an extremely high power output, has to deal with minor to moderate wheelspin when cornering or launching, even though it is AWD (technically Individual Wheel Drive).
- Because the Concept_Two has an extremely high starting Performance Index rating of S2 994, attempting to tune it for handling will push the car into Class X, where the Mosler MT900S, Apollo Intensa Emozione, and Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione are superior.
- The Rimac Concept_Two's gearing is always locked, thus causing it to be permanently restricted to 419 km/h (260 mph).
- In the same manner as the Regera, the Concept_Two has no conversions available, thus limiting its potential to even be competitive in Classes S2 or X.
Customization[edit | edit source]
The Concept_Two has two advanced paint groups for the body and four for the rims.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- At the rear of the Rimac C_Two, under the engine cover is a fire extinguisher locked by a strap that reads "In Case of Hill Climb Extinguish Fire". This is a reference to the infamous Rimac Concept One crash that involved The Grand Tour host Richard Hammond on June 10, 2017.[5]
- The Rimac C_Two was renamed to its current name of Rimac Concept Two in Series 16.
Mistakes[edit | edit source]
- The Rimac C_Two's dashboard's power reading always reads 0 kW.
- The C_Two's rear wing curiously does not fold up under heavy braking.
