The Peel P50 is a three-wheeled microcar produced by Peel Engineering Company from 1962 to 1965.
It was listed in the 2010 Guinness World Records as the smallest production car ever made.[1]
Overview[edit | edit source]
The P50 was designed as a city car and advertised in the 1960s as capable of seating "one adult and a shopping bag". The P50's only door is on its left side, and equipment consists of a single windshield wiper and a single circular headlight.
Only 50 units of the P50 have been made, with standard colors consisting of Daytona White, Dragon Red, and Dark Blue. Out of the 50, only 27 are known to still exist, one of which was sold for a record US$176,000 at a March 2016 Sotheby's auction.[2]
Specifications[edit | edit source]
The P50 is 1,372 mm (54 in) long and 991 mm (39 in) wide;[3] along with a dry weight of only 59 kilograms (130 lb), these figures make it the smallest production car ever made.[1]
The P50's engine is a fan-cooled 49 cc (0 L; 3 in3) engine, making only 4.2 hp (4.3 PS; 3.1 kW) and 6 ft·lb (8 N·m) of torque. All power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed manual with no reverse gear. Consequently, turning in a confined area could be achieved only by pushing, or lifting the car using the handle on the rear and physically pulling it round. In Forza Horizon 4, it is featured with a reverse gear, as with every other car in the game.[4]
Performance[edit | edit source]
The P50 is capable of a top speed of around 60 km/h (37 mph). In Forza Horizon 4, it can exceed 61 km/h (38 mph), especially with upgrades.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
The Peel P50 is a barn find in Forza Horizon 4, available only in the Summer season.
Advantages[edit | edit source]
The Peel P50's small size makes it very useful for smashing Influence Boards in cramped spaces or avoiding and hiding from other opponents in Playground Games.
Disadvantages[edit | edit source]
When upgraded to higher levels, the P50 becomes very unpredictable and difficult to control, even with the AWD conversion installed.
