Forzapedia:Forza Motorsport Wiki

The Forza Motorsport Wiki is a Fandom wiki that was founded on March 31, 2008 as a wiki dedicated to the Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon series. Although commonly used by the Forza community, it is notorious for being one of the worst racing game wikis ever made, with its quality continuing to irreversibly decline after the March 2018 incident. These reasons that will be detailed below are just five of many reasons why Forzapedia was created to counteract the Forza Motorsport Wiki.

Why We Left[edit source]

Reason #1: Corrupt administration and rules[edit source]

The Forza Motorsport Wiki is run by the infamous Fandom user LeMansRacer, who has been accused of holding a monopoly on the wikis he owns, including the NFS Wiki, Burnout Wiki, THE CREW Wiki, and the aforementioned Forza Motorsport Wiki. He is hated by many wiki users for various reasons, one being that he bans users left and right for either having the slightest difference of opinion or even just making a very small contribution to the wiki. What makes this worse is that Fandom will usually side with corrupt admins like LeMansRacer when an innocent user gets banned from a wiki by a corrupt admin like LeMansRacer without a second thought. Rest assured on Forzapedia, though, as you will not be banned here for opinion differences or making constructive contributions to the wiki, no matter how small.

Another user infamous for his nefarious behavior is CMAN122, who operates as a bureaucrat on the Forza Motorsport Wiki. He shares many similarities with LeMansRacer; in fact, they can be considered partners. However, CMAN122 is also infamous for replacing otherwise perfectly fine vehicle images with his poorer quality versions, which may actually have even worse lighting than the images they replace. However, this may be due to Forza Motorsport 7 having a poor lighting system in comparison to other games in the series, as well as his obliviousness to it.

The Forza Motorsport Wiki is also plagued by a rule that forces users to upload only JPG/JPEG images to pages, under the claim that they will improve loading times, especially on mobile devices. In reality, though, Fandom is notoriously hostile towards mobile devices and even computers, as they will see a spike in CPU usage or even overheat just by looking at a Fandom page, regardless of the presence of large images (the file format used doesn't matter). Forzapedia, however, does not enforce such rules and instead allows any file format, whether PNG or JPG, to be used, but the site is best viewed on a computer. However, we strongly discourage using any custom-made images (i.e. actually taken in-game using Photo Mode) that CMAN122, LeMansRacer, and their followers upload.

The Forza Motorsport Wiki also likes to censor any type of profanity posted on the wiki, which is hypocritical given that it covers the first Forza Horizon game, which is rated Teen (13+) by the Entertainment Software Rating Board for "Drug Reference, Language, Suggestive Themes", making it the Forza game with more profanity than any other game in the series, even surpassing Forza Horizon 3, which is rated Everyone (0-6+) for "Mild Lyrics" but features a song by DMX called X Gon' Give It To Ya, which very briefly features uncensored strong profanity in its lyrics.

Reason #2: Lack of detail in pages[edit source]

The Forza Motorsport Wiki, being a wiki run by LeMansRacer, is known to severely lack in terms of attention to detail on its pages. The vast majority of articles are nothing but barebones descriptions and in-game statistics, with no detailed guides and/or strategies on how to handle the 1400+ cars in the Forza series or the many race tracks and routes, as well as career races. Forzapedia, on the other hand, takes its learnings from the Asphalt Wiki and GTA Wiki and actually adds in guides and strategies on cars, tracks, and races. Although some details and strategies are still missing due to the wiki being under heavy construction, Forzapedia is still much better than the Forza Motorsport Wiki in terms of page detail.

In addition, the Forza Motorsport Wiki does not even delve into great detail about the cars being discussed; in fact, its attention to detail is worse than even Wikipedia's. Forzapedia chooses to discuss articles in great detail wherever possible and serves to educate Forza players about the various cars and locales in the series. This includes special edition cars (e.g. Forza Edition or Horizon Edition) even having their own pages (see Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Forza Edition).

Reason #3: Fandom's changes and policy[edit source]

Fandom has been plagued with major problems since 2016, but it was not until 2018 where its true colors showed. They not only removed the beloved Monaco skin, but they have since fallen in terms of quality control and moral integrity. In fact, they have run on an outdated version of the MediaWiki software for so long that their move to upgrade to a newer version of MediaWiki can be considered too little too late. Fandom also rarely listens to its users and actually fights back against criticism.

Reason #4: SEO manipulation[edit source]

Fandom has been suspected of manipulating Google search results, as Fandom results usually appear at the top. The Forza Motorsport Wiki, being a Fandom wiki, will usually appear at the top of any Forza-related search result; given that wiki's poor overall quality and upkeep, along with its corrupt administration, it can become annoying or even outright unbearable. Fortunately, the uBlock Origin and Personal Blocklist addons for web browsers like Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome give you the power to remove Forza Motorsport Wiki search results when searching on Google, although this does not apply to Google Images.

Reason #5: Blind, oblivious following[edit source]

Sadly, a lot of people, which includes the majority of the Forza community, still blindly use the Forza Motorsport Wiki without even thinking twice before doing so despite said wiki's extreme number of glaring flaws and infamously atrocious adminship. A notable example is the Instagram account of the Dubai Motor Show, which used two Forza Horizon 3 screenshots of the BMW M3 (E36) that were derived from the Forza Motorsport Wiki on a post it made in late 2019.

Is there hope for change?[edit source]

If you can help Forzapedia grow, we can become bigger than the Forza Motorsport Wiki and overthrow its draconian monopoly on Forza-related wikis, so yes, there is hope for change. Even the smallest constructive contributions will help. Please start today by creating an account and editing, and then let your Forza friends know about this up-and-coming wiki!

If you still use the Forza Motorsport Wiki, now is the time to stop and switch over to alternatives!
