The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage (AM Vantage '18) is a two-seater grand tourer produced by Aston Martin. It was added to Forza Horizon 4 via that game's Car Pass alongside the McLaren 650S Spider on November 22, 2018, during Series 3.[1]
The 2018 Vantage succeeds the outgoing previous Vantage which had been in production for 12 years and was unveiled on November 21, 2017. Different from the previous Vantage, the 2018 model uses a Mercedes-AMG-developed twin-turbocharged V8 engine.[2][3]
Overview[edit | edit source]
Design[edit | edit source]
The 2018 Vantage is based on new architecture shared with the DB11 and uses Mercedes-Benz-derived powertrain and infotainment technology like with the V8-powered DB11 models. Its design takes inspiration from the track-only Vulcan hypercar and the purpose-made DB10 that prominently appeared in the 2015 James Bond film Spectre.[4] The front grille, particularly inspired by the Vulcan, aids in efficient engine cooling.[5]
The Vantage's interior configuration also differs from the DB11 in various ways apart from seating capacity, such as the center console design. Whereas the DB11's center stack controls are quite intuitive and more spatial in terms of button/switch arrangement, those of the Vantage appear more cluttered and lack an optical disc drive, and also feature separate temperature displays for the automatic climate control. For purpose of weight saving, the Vantage also forgoes the passenger glove compartment and maintains a simple center console design as opposed to the DB11's deluxe power-sliding variant.
Technical specifications[edit | edit source]
The Vantage uses a 3,982 cc (4 L; 243 in3) Mercedes-AMG M178 twin-turbocharged V8 with a power rating of 510 PS (503 hp; 375 kW) and 685 N·m (505 ft·lb) of torque that is equipped with the Mercedes COMAND system.[2][4] The Vantage has a neutral 50% / 50% weight balance.[6] The Vantage has a weight of 3,497 lb (1,586 kg),[7] resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of 322 PS (317 hp; 236 kW) per tonne.
