The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera (AM DBS SL '19) is Aston Martin's flagship V12-engined grand tourer based on the Aston Martin DB11. It was added to Forza Horizon 4 in Series 12.[1]

Based on the outgoing DB11 V12 Coupé, the DBS Superleggera is kitted with modifications that distinguish it from the DB11 lineage along with usage of the iconic DBS name plate since the original DBS and the DB9-based DBS V12. The Superleggera name is a tribute to Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, who helped Aston Martin to create the lightest grand tourers in the 1960s and 1970s.[2]

Overview[edit | edit source]

Changes from the Aston Martin DB11 V12 Coupé[edit | edit source]

The AM DBS Superleggera's rear end, with the Formula One-inspired double-diffuser.
  • The DBS Superleggera features a front end with a new bumper and a large center grille to improve engine cooling along with two side air extractors for brake cooling and two hood vents that facilitate improved engine cooling.
  • The 5,204 cc, 5.2 L twin-turbocharged AE31 V12 engine has been upgraded, now making 725 PS (715 hp; 533 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 900 N·m (664 ft·lb) of torque between 1,800 rpm and 5,000 rpm.[3][4]
    • The engine has been positioned as low and far back in the chassis as possible to optimize the center of gravity and weight distribution.
  • Comes with only seven manufacturer colors.[5]
  • New 8-speed ZF 8P95 dual-clutch automatic transmission is used, albeit with a shorter final drive ratio of 2.93:1.[6] It has 1st to 8th gear ratios of 4.71, 3.14, 2.11, 1.67, 1.29, 1.00, 0.84, and 0.67.
  • Torque vectoring and a mechanical limited-slip differential have been added for more focused track performance.[7]
  • Also features the same aerodynamics first seen on the DB11 including Aston Martin's innovative Aeroblade system, but refines aerodynamics with a Formula 1-inspired rear double-diffuser that helps the car generate 397 lb (180 kg) of downforce, the highest ever recorded for a series production Aston Martin car.[7]
  • A new quad-pipe titanium exhaust system is used to improve engine sound.
  • Extensive use of carbon fiber results in reduced weight at only 3,966 lb (1,799 kg), resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of 397 hp (403 PS; 296 kW) per tonne.[5]

Performance[edit | edit source]

  • 0 - 60 mph (0 - 97 km/h): 3.4 seconds
  • 0 - 100 mph (0 - 161 km/h): 6.4 seconds
  • 50 - 100 mph (80 - 161 km/h): 4.2 seconds, fourth gear
  • Top speed: 211 mph (340 km/h)

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Forza Horizon 4[edit | edit source]

  • The AM DBS SL is an exclusive car, available by reaching 50% completion in the Horizon Winter Season in Series 12.
  • The AM DBS SL retains the same advanced paint groups as the DB11.
  • It is the only car, alongside the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Coupé, to receive the Aston Martin Vulcan's 7.0 L V12 as an engine swap option, for 60,000 CR.
  • The AM DBS SL is too heavy to be a competitive car for road racing; because of this, it has strong understeer compared to many superior Class S1 cars like the Bugatti EB110 Super Sport and McLaren 12C Coupé.
