The Aston Martin DB11 V12 Coupé (Aston DB11 '17, AM DB11) is a front-engined grand tourer produced by Aston Martin since 2016.

The DB11 is the successor to the Aston Martin DB9, the first model launched in Aston Martin's "second century" plan, and the first car launched since Aston Martin's tie-up with Daimler AG. Powered by a 5,204 cc (5.2 L; 317.6 in3) twin-turbocharged V12 engine, the DB11 is the first series production Aston Martin with a turbocharged engine.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Design / Chassis[edit | edit source]

Designed by Aston Martin's chief creative officer and head of design Marek Reichman, the DB11 continues the tradition of 1:3 proportion-focused design and includes a number of new and unique design features. New roof strakes separate the body from the roof (available in black or body color), and Aeroblade intakes line the front strakes. These evolve the side strakes from being purely visual features to functional design elements and channel turbulent air down the side of the car into intake ducts by the C-pillars and force the air out from the rear vertically as a pseudo-rear wing providing downforce.[1]

The DB11's bonnet is a clamshell design made from one piece of aluminum. Unlike previous Aston Martin models, the DB11 is not built on the older Aston Martin VH platform; instead, the car features an all-new riveted and adhesive-bonded aluminum platform that shifts the emphasis from extrusions to stampings to create more cockpit space which would also underpin future Aston Martin models, including the Vantage.

The DB11 has a minimum curb weight of 4,134 lb (1,875 kg) and a maximum curb weight of 4,194 lb (1,902 kg) for the V12 coupé.[2]

Engine / Drivetrain[edit | edit source]

The new AE31 engine powers the DB11 V12 Coupé.[3] It is a twin-turbocharged V12 engine with a 5,204 cc (5.2 L; 317.6 in3) displacement and a maximum power output of 608 PS (600 hp; 447 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 700 N·m (516 ft·lb) of torque between 1,500 and 5,000 rpm.[2]

A rear-mounted, rear-driving eight-speed automatic transmission manufactured by ZF Friedrichschafen is used as standard on the DB11 V12 Coupé.

Performance[edit | edit source]

The DB11 V12 Coupé has a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h) and a 0 - 60 mph (0 - 97 km/h) acceleration time of 3.7 seconds.[2][4] It is also capable of reaching 100 mph (161 km/h) in 7.9 seconds.[4]

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Advantages[edit | edit source]

The DB11 V12 Coupé is noticeably quicker than its predecessors, partly due to its twin-turbocharged V12 engine providing more power across the power band, enabling it to reach 100 mph (161 km/h) in just under 8 seconds. It also has some decent grip around corners, although it is somewhat prone to lift throttle oversteer.

As of Forza Motorsport 7, the DB11's top speed has been considerably buffed so it can reach its real life 200 mph (322 km/h) top speed.

Disadvantages[edit | edit source]

The DB11 V12 Coupé has an insufficiently low top speed in Forza Horizon 3, with only 187 mph (301 km/h), which is 13 mph (21 km/h) slower than its real life top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h). Also, its acceleration drastically weakens around 180 mph (290 km/h), partially because of its weirdly spaced gear ratios. In addition, due to its high weight rating, it has somewhat limited turning capabilities.

Customization[edit | edit source]

The DB11 comes with three advanced paint groups:

  1. The main body
  2. The roof
  3. The roof strakes

Aston Martin DB11 PreOrder Car[edit | edit source]

Forza Horizon 4 has a special pre-tuned variant of the AM DB11, dubbed the Aston Martin DB11 PreOrder Car (AM DB11 PO), available as one of four preorder bonus cars. It is tuned to the top of S1 Class and has a higher maximum possible power output exceeding 1,330 hp (992 kW). Initially available as a preorder bonus from GameStop, the DB11 PO was later made obtainable for everyone in Series 17 on December 25, 2019, as a free car from the Forzathon Shop as part of the PG Advent Calendar.

Unlike many other PO cars, the DB11 PO does not have any engine swaps available, limiting its competitiveness in any class.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

Mistakes[edit | edit source]

  • The DB11 V12 Coupé is wrongly featured with a power output of 608 hp (453 kW) in the Forza series, despite that it has 608 PS (600 hp; 447 kW) in real life.
  • The DB11 is also featured with its manufacturer-claimed 4,134 lb (1,875 kg) curb weight instead of its actual 4,194 lb (1,902 kg) curb weight, although the difference is negligible compared to many other cars.
